Environment Department, inaugurated in May 2011. The aquarium was born as an autonomous structure, inside the Territorial Museum of Lake Bolsenache has mainly archaeological value and is housed inside the Rocca Monaldeschi, a castle built in the late Middle Ages.<\/p>\n<h4>LAKE BOLSENA MUSEUM SYSTEM<\/h4>\n<p>Inaugurated on May 5, 1991, the territorial museum of Lake Bolsena is housed in the medieval &#8220;Rocca Monaldeschi Della Cervara&#8221;, to which the new headquarters of the nearby Palazzo Monaldeschi was added in 2011. The famous &#8220;Via Francigena&#8221; passed through Bolsena which, from the Middle Ages to the Romantic era, was the main artery along which centuries of wars, pilgrimages, and jubilees passed from all over Europe towards the great myth of Rome.
